At San Francisco State University, we take cultivating the writing skills of our students seriously. In fact, our University Strategic Plan identifies learning to write well as a key learning objective for the academic experience at SF State. We have compiled writing resources for you and your students to use in support of this.
SF State Writing Support for Students
Tutoring
Many groups on campus offer writing tutoring to SF State students. The LAC Website offers more information on each one of these groups is located on the website for the Learning Assistance Center

SF State Spotlight
The Learning Assistance Center supports San Francisco State University students in becoming independent and successful learners by providing skills-based tutoring and academic support referrals.
- Learning Assistance Center
- The LAC offers weekly scheduled appointments, one-on-one or small group appointments, scheduled one-time appointments and same day tutoring. The LAC also offers help with business writing and taking the GET.
- Community Access and Retention Program
- CARP offers tutoring for most undergraduate courses that require writing. - Educational Opportunity Program
- Tutoring services are provided by the EOP for EOP designated students only. - English Tutoring Center
- The ETC offers one-on-one semester long tutoring based on instructor referral.

- This Web site makes citations easy! Fill in the appropriate fields and the "machine" generates the citation in MLA and APA format for you. Just copy, paste and double-check the information it provides.
